About Mariachi Herencia de México

Mariachi Herencia de México is a young, virtuosic group of musicians determined to share the historic tradition of mariachi to the world by incorporating modern musical aspects. The group was born in Chicago in 2016 and is comprised of 14 musicians, ages 18-32, with unique musical talents.

Mariachi Herencia de México strive to pave the way for “la nueva generacion de la musica mariachi,” or the new generation of mariachi musicians. The band targets bicultural youth in the U.S., and encourages them to embrace their roots, expand their boundaries, and evolve their tastes and standards in an ever-changing society.

Mariachi Herencia de México made their mark on traditional and modern tunes with their debut album Nuestra Herencia shortly followed by Herencia de la Tierra Mia. After the wild success of the first two albums, the group released the two-volume series, Esencia and Esencia, Vol. 2. Mariachi Herencia de México received Latin Grammy nominations for Best Ranchero and Mariachi Album for both Nuestra Herencia, and Herederos, their most recent album released in 2022.

The group strives to embody the traditions of the past with hopes for the future through adopting classic American and Mexican tunes with a modern, vibrant twist. By focusing on the upcoming generation of musicians and embracing current trends, Mariachi Herencia de México takes the pleasures of mariachi music to whole new heights.

Mariachi Herencia de México: A Mariachi Christmas combines classic seasonal favorites with lively beats sure to put audiences in a festive, holiday spirit.
